ICT GISP Educator to Industry Excursion to Solis Security
Australia’s cyber security workforce needs a bigger pipeline of workers to meet growing threats, especially with the 2032 Brisbane Olympics on the horizon and generative AI reshaping the digital landscape. Demand for skilled professionals is rising. Engagement with schools helps build a diverse, future-ready talent pool capable of protecting national infrastructure and global events. As mentioned in the ACS DIgital Pulse 2025, navigating innovations in technologies such as cybersecurity is essential for businesses success.
Solis Security (Australia), a valued ACS Professional Partner based on the Gold Coast, is a regular and high-quality provider of workplace experience for students and teachers involved in the ICT Gateway to Industry Schools project. Solis has developed valuable opportunities the next generation of workers and regularly hosts work experience placements for local school students.

They have a handy postcard to give to interested students at events they support like the Gold Coast BiG Day In, and have a pivotal role as technical lead for the first PeCan+ CTF competition at TAFE Coomera in August, and it’s clear that Solis is demonstrating an exemplary commitment to inspiring, training, and retaining future cyber security professionals.
On Tuesday 7 August, three local teachers and three ACS Qld EPCommunity members (Aswin Jayaraman, Harkirat Kaur, Mosammat Sadia Sultana) visited Solis for a tour and an engaging discussion about cyber security and the company’s operations.
General Manager Julie Priest fielded great questions about the work experience opportunities offered by Solis Security, as well as the types of roles and responsibilities within the business.

Visits to tech workplaces help teachers contextualise components of the Digital Technologies Curriculum when teaching these concepts to students. For career advisers, the visit provides first-hand experience to pass onto students who are deciding their study pathway.
